We are well into the month of April and Tower would like to feature Emma Cuellar as this month’s member spotlight. Cueller has been with Tower since Fall 2009 and currently serves as our creative officer. Cuellar is responsible for organizing and preparing Tower’s involvement in Explore UT and Forty Acres Fest (which happens to be this weekend!) She is very active in the community and has an eye for sports.
Here’s what Cuellar has to say about her 3 years with Tower:
Are you currently interning? If so, where? What type of work? I am currently interning at an agency called Great Communicate located here in Austin, Texas. I am involved in all of our client work and on a daily basis I am interacting with clients, creating media lists and calling the media. It has been a great experience and I will use the tools I have learned there for the rest of my career in public relations.
What do you enjoy most about working with Tower? I enjoy working with other college students who also enjoy working in public relations. We are a student-run public relations firm and we take our work very seriously, while also trying to have fun with it.
What motivates you to work with nonprofits? My family has motivated me to work with nonprofits. Back in my hometown my mom is on the board of the Boys and Girls Club and helps with their fundraising opportunities. I volunteered with the organization through my years in high school. My sister works for Teach For America, a nonprofit that she and I are very passionate about.
If you could listen to only one album for the rest of your life, what would it be? I could definitely listen to Adele’s albums 19 or 21 for the rest of my life. She has such an amazing voice and you feel all of her emotions through every song.
What book do you thing everyone should read? I jumped on the bandwagon and read the Hunger Games trilogy. I would recommend it to everyone, young and old.
What are your post-graduation plans? I have accepted a position with Kraft, in the Oscar Mayer division, as a Wienermobile Spokesperson! I will be representing Oscar Mayer products across the country as a Hotdogger traveling in the 27-foot long Wienermobile. There are 12 of us from across the nation who will be trained in media relations, crisis communications and maneuvering the most recognizable brand icon on wheels. I have to thank Tower alumna Yoli Borrego for letting me know about this great opportunity. I am so excited and I cannot wait to start in June!
Cuellar has been a great asset to Tower and we wish her much succes in her future endeavors. Be sure to stay connected with us on Twitter and Facebook for all the latest on Cuellar, Explore UT and Forty Acres Fest!
Keep up the great work,
Social Media Officer
